Psychotherapy is a collaborative process where discussions are centered around helping an individual identify, process, and shift patterns of thinking, feeling, or behaving that are no longer serving them.
Psychotherapy sessions can provide a space to openly experience emotions, share what’s on your mind, and think through dynamics with support. While there could be immediate goals of therapy, such as relieving symptoms or shifting patterns that are no longer helpful, therapy could also facilitate self-exploration and personal growth.
If you are motivated and open to these goals, this may signal that therapy is something that is for you at this time.

I predominantly approach therapy through a psychodynamic lens. Psychodynamic therapy helps people make sense of the emotional tapestry of their lives so they’re no longer unconsciously repeating patterns, but instead can choose how to live and relate. Instead of a directive, advice-giving approach, I work reflectively, helping you uncover and understand the underlying patterns that guide your life.
Some core features of this approach include:
Having open-ended conversations
Slowing down to explore meaningful moments that come up in session in our relationship
Noticing patterns across situations and relationships

I am currently in-network with Aetna, Anthem, and Cigna insurance companies. Each insurance plan has different deductibles and copays/coinsurance rates, so the weekly cost will vary depending on your specific plan. I use Headway for billing, and you can either navigate to Headway to verify your insurance coverage, or I can obtain some information to check benefits before scheduling. Additionally, you could contact your insurance provider to ask about benefits and costs.
These may be helpful questions to ask your insurance:
Does my plan cover virtual outpatient psychotherapy?
Is Adriana Pombo, the owner of Pombo Psychological Practice, an in-network or out-of-network provider under my plan?
Do I have a deductible? If so, what is the amount? How much of it has already been reached? Does outpatient psychotherapy count toward my deductible?
Do I have a copay or coinsurance? If so, what is the amount/percentage per session?
How many psychotherapy sessions are covered by my insurance plan per year?
*As insurance coverage depends on each client’s circumstances and does not necessarily apply to all treatments provided, it is your responsibility to verify the specifics of your coverage. You are ultimately responsible for understanding the limitations of your coverage. Additionally, benefits are not a guarantee of coverage.

I believe that therapy should be accessible to those seeking services.
If I am not contracted as an in-network provider with your insurance carrier, you can verify if your plan offers out-of-network coverage (usually PPO plans). If you have this coverage, the costs of services will be charged to you and not your insurance company. Upon your request, I will provide you with a copy of your Superbill on a monthly basis, and you can submit the Superbill to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. A Superbill contains certain provider information, and patient confidential information, including your date of birth, dates of service, diagnostic and procedural codes, and fees charged. However, my providing you with a Superbill does not change your obligation to pay for sessions as well as any outstanding charges at the time of services.
My out-of-pocket (private-pay) rate is $225 per session. I offer a limited number of sliding scale appointments for clients experiencing financial hardship. Eligibility is determined through a conversation about financial circumstances and my discretion.
Private pay clients will be provided with a Notice of Good Faith Estimate and Good Faith Estimate of the expected charges for services pursuant to the No Surprises Act.

At this time, I offer only Telehealth sessions to anyone living in California. When in-person is available, I will update my website to reflect the in-person location.

If you are interested in working together, you can either fill out the Contact Form or reach out to me via email or call. I will review/respond to forms, emails, and calls and attempt to return your call on the same or next business day, or as soon as reasonably possible. From there, we will have a free consultation call, usually 15 minutes, to discuss if we would be a good fit. From there, we would schedule our first session, and intake paperwork will be emailed out to complete before our initial session.

Because I value the therapeutic relationship, assessing whether our relationship feels supportive is important. Our initial consultation and first session offer opportunities for you to get a sense of how I work, what it's like to share space together, and decide if my approach aligns with your needs and continuing together feels like the right fit. Choosing a provider is personal; it’s important that you feel comfortable, safe, and trusting in the therapeutic relationship. If we do not feel like the right fit, we can discuss this together, and I can assist in connecting you to a provider that aligns with your current needs.

Because treatment is individualized, there is no set timeline for how long treatment will last. The length of treatment varies depending on what you’re working through. Some concerns can be addressed in a shorter time; however, therapy is not a quick fix. In an insight-oriented approach, we work to understand patterns at a pace that feels supportive. I encourage conversations where we check in about how you’re feeling in treatment and reassess pace or areas of focus.
